The Hirshon Jewish Catskills Chinese Roast Pork and Garlic Sandwich

The Hirshon Jewish Catskills Chinese Roast Pork and Garlic Sandwich

  • Total Time: 0 hours

  • 1 pound sliced Chinese roast pork (char siu)
  • 6 cloves garlic (mashed)
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • ⅛ teaspoon seasoning salt (or to taste) – TFD prefers Jane’s Krazy Salt
  • 2 loaves Hirshon garlic bread
  • Chinese hot mustard to serve
  • The Hirshon duck sauce to serve

  1. Slice the Chinese roast pork (char siu) into thin slices.
  2. Mix the fresh mashed garlic (you can also use a garlic press) with the olive oil and salt.
  3. Cut the garlic bread in half. Spread ½ the garlic and olive oil mixture evenly on one side of the bread. Yes, you’re adding more garlic to garlic bread. Deal with it.
  4. Repeat with the other roll.
  5. Lay the sliced pork on the sandwich, close it, cut on a diagonal, and plate with a Kosher dill pickle, Chinese hot mustard, and duck sauce on the side.
