! Attend upon my most urgent summons, for your Leader – the always incandescent TFD! – has manifested a thought within himself of a most profound and exciting nature!
It has been some time since I have deigned to offer you a week of themed recipes – far too long, IMHO! Lurking within my solitary lair, deep within the Antarctic continent as I plot world gastronomic revolution, I am now prepared to rectify this oversight!
As such, I hereby proclaim unto you, the heavens and G-d Almighty that the next 7 days, I shall regale you with 7 recipes from legendary restaurants across the United States, now sadly lost to the mists of time due to closure.
These are recipes that those of a certain age will remember and covet, were you ever fortunate enough to eat at any of these establishments or chains! Yes, I am by no means limiting these to fine dining establishments – I for one have very fond memories of at least one “fast food” restaurant chain’s food and one specific dish in particular that I will share with you!
The only categorical descriptor that matters to me is ‘legendary’. 🙂
These TFD-curated recipes are from these now sadly-defunct establishments:
- The Four Seasons Restaurant, NYC
- Lüchow’s, NYC
- Lutèce Restaurant, NYC
- The Whitehall Club, Chicago
- Howard Johnson’s Restaurant, Nationwide
- Old Original Bookbinder’s Restaurant, Philadelphia
- Locke-Ober Restaurant, Boston
Prepare yourselves, – these are recipes ranging from simple to complex and are worthy of being remembered through the ages, just like the restaurants that created them!
Battle on – The Generalissimo
