Citizens, this weekend is the biggest food festival in America! Held in the small California town of Gilroy, this is where most of America’s garlic is grown – and 100,000+ people are converging en masse to consume garlic in unholy quantities and all forms at the Gilroy Garlic Festival!
TFD has been attending for more than 20 years, and has always enjoyed the flaming spectacle of the acclaimed “Pyro Chefs”! 🙂
When visiting the event, this very simple recipe of garlic stuffed mushrooms is perhaps my favorite of the hundreds of garlic-laden edibles one can sample there!
Simple – but delicious! This is an awesomely easy way to enjoy the true flavor of garlic at your next soirée, !
Battle on – The Generalissimo
—
1 cup butter
⅓ cup crushed garlic
1 lb grated Parmesan
⅓ cup chopped parsley
50 large mushrooms
—
Melt butter, stir in crushed garlic, grated cheese and parsley. Mix well. Brush mushrooms clean, remove stem. Stuff mushrooms, smoothing top.
Place on broiler pan and broil until top turns golden brown. You do NOT want the cheese to melt, only to lightly brown the tops – the filling should have a “sandy” consistency, so watch them very carefully!
Serve hot out of the broiler!
