Citizens – my apologies for not posting the last few days, but you see I am currently on the island of Spitsbergen, in the archipelago of Svalbard – the northernmost point of inhabited land in the world, far above the Arctic Circle! 🙂
Here, it is dark 24 hours – the sun has not risen since November 17 and will not rise again for weeks to come!
Connectivity is limited, but when I return in a few days, I will post many pictures of this frozen wonderland, including the Northern Lights, glaciers, and more! In the meantime, admire the two pics below that I have uploaded from the trip as a prelude to whet your appetite!
I leave in 15 minutes on a 7-hour dogsled across the tundra to a glacier cave – the area is full of polar bears (there are more polar bears than people here, literally!) and both myself and my guide are armed against their attack here in the frozen land of eternal darkness.
Talk to you soon, Citizens! 😀
